Minutes of
the GC of Marion
Marion
Public Library, Marion, Indiana
Vice
President Richard Browner called the meeting to
order at 9:30 a.m. There were 10 members present.
Richard informed us that Eileen Goddard joined last
month. He also encouraged us to invite prospective
new members to come to a meeting.
The
treasurer’s report was given and filed for audit
Minutes
from the December meeting were read and approved.
Corresponding Secretary, Claudene Rust reported:
Birthday cards were sent.

Richard
Browner reported that the Poinsettia’s in the urns
at the VA hospital have been removed.
Judy
Fornshell gave an update on the Marion National
Cemetery Blue Star Marker project. She is working
with Bowman construction and IMI. The construction
of the star will start when the weather permits.

Business:
The budget
for the 2007-2008 year was presented and approved.
A
recommendation from the Executive Committee to
rescind the motion to spend the Ashley Memorial fund
of $250.00 for a bench at the Quilters Hall of Fame
was approved.
Judy
Fornshell motioned that we place a plaque in the
River walk garden project in Memory of Mrs. Ashley
from The Garden Club of Marion and the remaining
monies to be spent to improve the River walk Garden.
Second and approved.
A
recommendation from the Executive Committee was made
by Judy Fornshell that we change Standing Rule #4
increasing the amounts the Cheer Chairman can spend
on flowers. Change $10.00 to $20.00 and change
$30.00 to $50.00.
It would
then read:
4. The
Cheer Chairman form a committee to take a potted
plant to members who are hospitalized or have an
extended illness, cost not to exceed $20.00. Plants
sent for funeral not to exceed $50.00. These are to
be delivered to the member’s home if it is a spouse,
child, mother or father. If it is for a member it
should be sent to the funeral home. Get well cards
sent by the cheer chairman when notified of the
member’s illness. Second and approved.
Announcements:
Dues for
the coming year not paid by today’s meeting will be
delinquent and incur a $5.00 late fee.
Judge’s
Luncheon…info in Indiana Gardens.
State
Convention April 17 & 18th …all forms are
on the Garden Club of Indiana website.
Next month
will be installation of officers.
Bring
canned goods for one of the Missions next month.
A workshop
scheduled for May 14th was discussed. We
will have Erika Kaeff demonstrate how to make Leaf
Bird Feeders at the home of Claudene Rust. The cost
will be $10.00 and all supplies will be included.
Since 10 people were needed to hold the workshop a
show of hands was taken. 8 people said they would
attend.
There being
no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
10:00 a.m.
A slide
show presentation on gardens that Erika Kaeff put
together on Carollee’s last bus trip was shown.
