-Why we design-
We design to create beauty, to share our knowledge, to stimulate creativity, to challenge the mind and to refresh the spirit. We share our gifts and talents with our community. We design because it gives us great joy, and adds to our purpose on this earth.

The principles of design are:
Balance: defined in floral design as visual stability, it is usually the first principle noticed.
Proportion: is defined as a ratio between areas and amounts to each other and to the whole.
Rhythm: is achieved by having a dominant visual path of line and/or color through the design, making design appear to be alive.
Contrast: achieved by placing opposite or unlike elements together in such a way as to utilize their differences, to create interest.
Dominance: the greater force of one or more of those elements contrasted above.
Scale: size relationship of one object in design compared to another.
Conclusion: the Elements of Design are tangible ingredients in the design recipe, while the intangible Principles of Design are directions for combining those ingredients into successful design.
