Text Box: CALL LETTER
IMPORTANT INVITATION TO SHARE WITH YOUR MEMBERS!
Attendence at the Central East District annual meeting is ENCOURAGED. This day has been set aside for all members, guests and friends to learn and have fun!! Garden Club of Marion is working hard to make this an enjoyable day.  Our honored guest will be The Garden Club of Indiana, Inc. President, Ellen Elliott.
Our Program “History of Hoosier Native Plants &  Wildflowers” will be presented by Purdue Extension Agent, John Woodmansee.  This informative program is a timely subject, as the planting of native plants and wildflowers takes on a greater importance than ever before. There will be time for questions and answers.  Interesting, intriguing and insightful.
Registration and hospitality will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the business meeting to start at 10:00 a.m.
Yearly club reports prepared by Club Presidents will be read at the meeting and should not be longer than three (3) minutes. Sixteen(16) copies are needed. Club Presidents or District Chairmen not able to attend are asked to send a representative or mail copies of your reports to the District Secretary, Judy Fornshell, 706 Macalan Dr., Marion IN 46952-2043; no later than October 25, 2007.
Memorial Service - A memorial  service will be held for members who passed away during the past year. Each Club President is asked to send the names of these persons. Please feel free to include information about the deceased members that may be included in the memorial service. Please send this information to the registration chairman, Sue McVicker.
Ways & Means -  Each club is to bring $20 worth of garden related items such as dried flowers, seeds, plants, garden books, bird houses, etc. (with prices marked) for the ways & Means table or  may contribute cash.  We prefer items.
Name Tag Competition - This year there will be a name tag competition among members in the district.  EVERYONE must make, bring and wear their own name tag.  Fancy, funny, large or small, it just doesn’t matter at all.
However, they will be judged in 2 categories:  Most Creative and Best of the Season
Jack-o-Lanterns Galore -  During fun time we will all be given a small pumpkin, and markers.  This is a chance to show off your artistic skills, your creative side, or just plain inner child.   You may bring additional adornments or decorating supplies with you.  Who knows?, you may be taking home a prize along with your completely decorated Jack-o-Lantern.
I am so looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you there!!!
Respectfully, Central East Director Joyce Bulington
